So I thought I would tell about my adventure with my son at our local park yesterday and he was running around in one of those castles they have and there were wasps that no one knew about. And it was one of those nasty red ones, it got him above his ear in his hair. That happened at 11ish well by 2 after we got home it started getting puffy, now keep in mind I know he reacts badly to stings from ants and wasps so I immediately gave him Benadryl and iced it. Well at 2 I got worried so I called Dr. Tan (we just saw him Monday) and asked them about it. They said ice it again and give more Benadryl. Now I am getting worried cause I know Monday that we were talking about getting him an EpiPen next year if he doesn't outgrow his allergy. So I did what they said and he fell asleep and I thought all was fine till around 4 he woke up fussy and keep rubbing at his eye. IT WAS SWOLLEN SHUT... I was done I called them again and was ready to be hysterical! They called in some steroids for him and had them pushed through, still took an hour but I got them 70 dollars later! But hey still cheaper than a hospital visit! So today he is getting better but it looks like he has a black eye. I was embarassed last night when we went to his orientation with his face like that but he took right to the school and was running around!
I am to the point of being afraid of him going to school because these reactions keep happening and what if I don't get to him on time or he gets ant bitten and doesn't tell someone. His preschool is aware now (especially after seeing him!) of how serious this can be. I try to not be a freakout mom and be easy going but after this I am going to have to start worrying more till either A.) he outgrows it or B.) He gets an EpiPen...
